The fictional Virginia town where the film is set. Filmed mostly in and around Long Beach, California.
Middlesex, Virginia, is home to the Darko family, Middlesex Ridge School and Roberta Sparrow's house on the Old Gun Road. Its filming locations - the Darko house in Long Beach, Loyola High School as the school, the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica as the cinema - have become pilgrimage sites for fans.
