The physics teacher who gives Donnie Roberta Sparrow's book and explains wormholes - until the conversation turns to God and he has to stop.
Monnitoff is the bridge between the film's science and its metaphysics. He hands Donnie "The Philosophy of Time Travel", explains Hawking and Einstein-Rosen bridges, and then, when Donnie proposes that everyone travels along a predetermined "channel", refuses to go further: "I could lose my job." His rejection is the Primary Universe's institutional limit, and Sparrow's book takes over where he stops.
